Her dedication to animal welfare extends far beyond clinical practice. Dr. MacDonald has volunteered at spay and neuter clinics, mentored aspiring veterinarians, and participated in humanitarian missions to underserved communities in Los Angeles, Cuba, St. Croix, and Baja Mexico.
The inspiration for Kindest Farewell came from a deeply personal experience in 2019. While traveling abroad, Dr. MacDonald had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her beloved bulldog, Charlotte. Without the comfort of her home, hospital, or support network, she found herself in a sterile, unfamiliar setting that compounded the emotional pain of saying goodbye. This experience profoundly impacted her and highlighted the need for a more compassionate, home-based option for end-of-life care.
Driven by her empathy for both pets and their grieving families, Dr. MacDonald founded Kindest Farewell to offer pets a gentle and peaceful passing in the comfort of their own home. She believes that while euthanasia is one of the most difficult aspects of pet ownership, it should be handled with the utmost care, ensuring dignity and comfort for every pet and their family.
