Dr. Kimberley MacDonald
A note from Dr. Kimberley MacDonald: I founded Kindest Farewell because I believe every pet deserves a peaceful, gentle passing in the place where they feel safest - at home, surrounded by the people who love them.
My path as a veterinarian began at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I completed my Bachelor of Science, and I later earned my veterinary degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College. After graduation, I continued my training through an internship at the Norwalk Veterinary and Emergency Referral Center. Over the years, I’ve pursued additional certifications in canine rehabilitation, acupuncture, and chiropractic, driven by a desire to better support animals’ comfort and mobility throughout all stages of life.
Much of my work has also taken me beyond the clinic. I’ve had the privilege of volunteering at spay-and-neuter clinics, mentoring aspiring veterinarians, and participating in humanitarian missions in communities throughout Los Angeles, Cuba, St. Croix, and Baja, Mexico. These experiences shaped my appreciation for the profound bond we share with our animals - and how deeply they depend on us for comfort, care, and dignity.
The true inspiration for Kindest Farewell came from a personal loss. In 2019, while traveling abroad, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to my beloved bulldog, Charlotte. Far from home and without the support of familiar people or surroundings, I found myself in a sterile, unfamiliar environment during one of the most painful moments of my life. That experience stayed with me. It made me acutely aware of how important it is for families to have an option that allows them to say goodbye in a space filled with love, familiarity, and peace.
Kindest Farewell grew from that realization. My goal is to provide the kind of comfort I wish I could have given Charlotte - gentle, unhurried, deeply respectful end-of-life care that honors the bond you share with your pet. I consider it a privilege to support families through this moment, helping them navigate a difficult chapter with compassion, clarity, and dignity.
